Hi Everyone - So - the final standings will be posted tomorrow. I've had a long-ass weekend full of a screaming teething toddler - so I figured it safest to check my work given that 3rd and 4/5th place (two teams with the same exact roster - which has never happened before) are decided by 0.2 points.

That said ... First place is Tyree 1. Second place is David daCruz 3. Congrats! I'll be in touch about payment.

3rd and 4th (which as of now will be split by two teams) are between vandelay industries and fuzzy Dunlop and Bradley Cusick (who have the same rosters).

Last place looks to be DiSanto/Carmody.

Given that there were 4 phantom teams and 2 DQ's as expected.
Pay-out looks to be what I thought it would be:

I don't think the blog was used that much last year - but I'll be posting standings here.
Here is the email I sent out this year.

It's that time again .... the 10th annual BG Fantasy Player pool for the NFL Play-offs. All those included in this email are those who were involved last year (or have shown interest in the past). If you would like to pass along to anyone else - that is totally cool - however, please don't send this off to anyone that you know it will be a struggle to get them to pay as it will just mean more upfront work for me...So... the person emailing me must include your name as a "reference"...

The rules and submission process is the exact same as last year. That said - every year - there are too many people who mess it up - so please read the below carefully. If you mess up the roster entry (submitting an illegal team, position eligibility, submission deadline, etc) your entry will be null and void ...

Rosters: Each entry will consist of 12 roster spots outlined below (yes - it includes Individual Defensive Players). Each roster must consist of every team in the NFL playoffs, EXCEPT FOR ONE - which means you are allowed to pick 2 players from the same team - if you desire. You can only do this once, so only one NFL play-off team will not represented on your final roster. (So - T. Brady and W. Welker can be on the same team). Rosters which are submitted incorrectly, (have 2 players from more than one team or list players at incorrect positions) will be null and void.

Submitting Rosters: This is going to be different this year. You will need to go to this URL and fill out the form with your roster/team. Very important - please submit the players names in the format I list (First initial of first name - dot - full last name). I can't spend 10 hours on manual data entry (although I know it will come to that at some point). Please also pay attention to player name spelling.

Cost: The cost will be $50 per entry. You can enter multiple entries if you'd like. Due to the quick nature of this pool, the preferred method of receiving payment is PAYPAL. Please PayPal me under 'Give to an individual" and "as a gift" the $50 per entry upon submitting your team(s) to bgoffin@yahoo.com . The gift part is important to keep the fees down and end pay-outs higher.
If you do not have a paypal account then you can pay me via cash/check, but I will need to receive your money by MONDAY, JAN. 10th. Otherwise, you will forfeit your entry...NO EXCEPTIONS. Entries need to be received by 6:00 PM on Friday, January 8th so we can send out all of the teams by Saturday (when games start). I'd suggest sending in your teams early so you don't forget and miss the deadline...

Stats will be taken from " NFL.com Gamebook." Player positions will be taken from NFL.com. If you are unsure of a position (especially the IDPs) please check before submitting.

Official pay-outs, tie-breakers, and other variables not included in this email will be TBD, depending on how many entries we receive. However, here is how last years pay-outs approximately worked:

2nd place: $1,200
3rd place: $500

The rules are similar to last year (with the exception of a tweak to the FG scoring) - AND - you will be submitting your team differently than in years past so please keep reading.

Hey All - Congratulations goes to:

Final Standings have been posted. To be honest, I'm happy that the team that had the balls to take 2 Arizona Cardinals to start the play-offs won it all. I mean, if you can't win by doing that in this pool -- I have no idea how it's won...

I am exhausted after the SuperBowl, but promise to post a write-up/review of this post-season. My apologies for the lack of updates/interesting fodder during the play-offs this year -- just an off year for me, I guess.

The Standings have been updated reflecting the Conference Champsionship games ... With Larry Fitzgerald being the ridiculous monster that he's been - it's fair to say that he's on every team in contention ...with ONE exception ... The Blaggers have Fitz and Warner - which is huge as they trail the leader by 23 points.... but ... there are other teams in contention most with different Steeler players... Hines, Willie, Polamalu, and Harrison....

Wow - If anyone thought the Cardinals were making it to the NFC Championship - you are pretty good. (I believe only one team has 2 Cardinals on his team - L. Stein - but - one of them is Boldin)....*Correction - I believe "The Blagges" have Fitz and Warner...

Anyway - the Standings are updated. Check out the Player Totals tab to see what every player is doing...

Larry Fitzgerald has outscored any other player by over 20 points...The most popular players taken (S. Smith, B. Jacobs, and D. Williams) were all huge busts....

Hi All-
What a Super Bowl!! Final Standings are in and posted. ... Danny Nicolet squeezed out an impressive win (oh - and $2,500) for his first time -- after being in the pool I want to say 5+ years.... Congrats Dan!!
H. Levitan's rookie entry made a profitable one by winning 2nd place (and $850). Blakey Remer etched out 3rd (and $350). Jo-Jo Morgan came in last - and will get his $50 back.... There were a little over $100 in Pay-Pal fees this year...
I will be following up to pay-out the winning 4 teams this week...

Of the guys that were picked -- not including A. Toomer...

Going into this years Superbowl - spots 2-7 are pretty tight. D. Nicolet (pronounced "Nic-o-Lay" I learned tonight...) and his Chris Chambers pick (the only person in the 77 entries) seem in a somewhat comfy first place... He's ahead 21 with Maroney and Brady...but...A. Pierce on the G-Men ... Some of the folks on his heels have 2 Pats (some combo of Welker/Brady/Maroney PLUS Plax) ....

Should be an interesting finish ... Best of luck to everyone.

Pay-outs will be as posted earlier. (possibly $2 or $5 less for first - depends on how the outstanding 2 people pay me)...

Thanks to Dan N ... We caught a minor mistake that effected about 5 teams (positively) ... A. Haynesworth wasn't registering any points and a couple of other small differences...

Unfortunately - 2 point conversions are another thing I left out of the scoring rules. I'm posting it to the blog so I don't forget this year... (was shocked to see there were 3 attempts on the first day of the play-offs)...

Also - to clarify because some people (Rome) have emailed asking ... Special teams plays (including Yards, TD, Tackles, etc) do not count towards your players points... ;)

I honestly cannot believe I'm about to write this ... but... there has been a TIE in this years Championship. S.Santoris and Colediggy both ended the playoffs with 347.19 points AND they didn't even have the same team...Lance Briggs came through big for Colediggy and Robby Gould hit the 44 yard field goal to keep him in it....

They will share the first and second prizes which comes out to $3100 or $1550 per man. K.Curtis squeeked out 3rd place and will get $350. M.Mandell came in last and will get his money back.

I've sent the spreadsheet in an email so you all can see how it went down. Final standings are also posted to the Google Spreadsheet page.

New Standings Posted

New standings that reflect games going into the Super Bowl are posted. It looks like Scott S and Colediggy will need to fend off Thomas Jones and B. Berrian (K. Curtis squad) to hold on to their money spots.

Speaking of money, 69 entries at $50 a piece is $3450. There was a little over $50 in Paypal fees, which leaves about $3400 (give or take).

First place will take in $2250
Second place will take in $800
Third place will take in $300
Last place (pretty much guaranteed Matty Mandell) will get his money back

Again - my apologies for not posting after each day this weekend and being a little late today.

I've posted the updated standings going into the conference championships this weekend. My personal favorite to win this thing?.... K.Curtis who is currently in 14th place - but has big guns from all remaining teams.... We shall see....

2 Point Conversions

Hi All -- It's been brought to my attention that I didn't include scoring on 2 Point conversions in the email. Assuming that the ability of a player to score a 2 point conversion didn't factor into your analysis (and that no taken player scored a 2 point conversion this past weekend), I am comfortable in adding the following to the scoring.

Any 2 pt score (Rush, Pass, or Reception) will be awarded with 2 points. A 2 pt reception does not count as a "catch," however.

An interesting first week. Like always, a bunch of un-chosen players (Addai, Stallworth and Gaffney) come up big - but so did some taken players (J. Stevens, Westbrook, and Plaxico leading the scoring). Blake Remer leads the pack after week 1 -- but with Plax, TO and Tony G done -- there is definitely an opportunity for other teams to claim the #1 spot.

The Google spreadsheet is updated to reflect standings after the wild-card weekend.
